Polina Ilieva

  

Polina E. Ilieva is currently a Project Archivist at UCSF Library responsible for multimedia collection of the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library (LTDL: http://legacy.library.ucsf.edu) that includes more than 7,500 tobacco industry video and audio recordings. As of September 2011 more than 2,900 audio and video recordings were uploaded to the Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/tobaccoarchives). Polina is interested in using Web 2.0 technology to provide access to and promote archival collections, online discoverability of audiovisual materials, social metadata and crowdsourcing to enrich metadata created by archival professionals. Polina works on fostering collaboration between tech companies and archivists and in 2011 she organized the first “New Technologies and Archives: Exchange Forum” at the Society of California Archivists meeting. She is a co-chair of the Metadata and Digital Object Roundtable at Society of American Archivists (SAA) and graduated from the Archives Leadership Institute in 2011. Polina believes that it is vital to welcome the new generation of users in the archives and as a member of the SAA National History Day committee she worked on designing the NHD and Archives toolkit that features resources for teachers/students and archivists/librarians about the National History Day and can be accessed at: http://nhdarchives.pbworks.com.
